Terms of Service
Please read these terms carefully before using DocWallet. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to be bound by them.
Effective date: July 7, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and DocWallet Labs, Inc. ("DocWallet Labs", "we", "us", or "our"), the company behind the DocWallet mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By downloading, installing, or using DocWallet, or by clicking "I agree" during account creation, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. These Terms are effective as of July 7, 2026 and supersede any prior versions.
2. Description of Service
DocWallet is a zero-knowledge, end-to-end encrypted mobile document wallet available on iOS and Android. It allows users to store, organize, and share personal documents — including government-issued IDs, passports, certificates, and family records — in a private, encrypted vault on their device. Features include country-specific document slots, expiry notifications, family sharing (account-level access grants), and single-document sharing via QR codes. This website (docwalletlabs.com) is informational only; documents cannot be accessed or viewed through a web browser.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to create a DocWallet account. If you are between 13 and 17, you represent that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf. Certain features — including paid subscription plans and family sharing — are available only to users who are 18 years of age or older, or the age of majority in their jurisdiction, whichever is greater. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet the applicable age requirements and have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement.
4. Account Registration & Security
To use DocWallet you must create an account with a valid email address and set a passphrase. Your passphrase is the sole key to your encrypted vault. Because DocWallet is built on a zero-knowledge architecture, your passphrase is never transmitted to or stored by DocWallet Labs in any usable form — it never leaves your device. This means we are technically and permanently unable to recover your passphrase or reset access to your vault if it is lost. You are solely responsible for (a) choosing a strong, unique passphrase; (b) keeping it safe and confidential; (c) all activity that occurs under your account; and (d) maintaining current, accurate registration information. If you suspect unauthorized access to your account, notify us immediately at support@docwalletlabs.com. DocWallet Labs will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to protect your passphrase or account credentials.
5. Acceptable Use
You may use DocWallet only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to:
- Store, upload, or transmit content that is fraudulent, forged, illegal, or that violates any applicable law or regulation.
- Impersonate any person or entity, or falsely claim an affiliation with any person or entity.
- Use the Service to facilitate identity theft, document fraud, or any other criminal activity.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or derive source code from any part of the Service.
- Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of any system or network associated with DocWallet Labs.
- Scrape, crawl, or otherwise harvest data from the Service in an automated manner without our written consent.
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service or its associated infrastructure.
- Use the Service for any commercial purpose other than as expressly permitted by your subscription plan.
DocWallet Labs reserves the right to suspend or terminate any account that we determine, in our sole discretion, is in violation of these acceptable-use requirements.
6. Zero-Knowledge Architecture & Your Responsibility
DocWallet is designed so that encryption and decryption occur exclusively on your device. Your documents are encrypted before they are synced to our servers, and the cryptographic keys that unlock them are derived entirely from your passphrase — which DocWallet Labs never possesses. As a consequence:
- We cannot see your documents. Our servers store only ciphertext, encrypted keys, and your public key.
- We cannot recover your vault. If you lose your passphrase and have no backup, your encrypted data is permanently inaccessible. There is no password-reset flow and no backdoor.
- You hold the keys. You are entirely responsible for the safekeeping of your passphrase and any recovery mechanisms you establish.
- Shared access carries risk. Anyone with your passphrase can decrypt and access your full vault. Guard it accordingly.
By using the Service you acknowledge and accept these properties as fundamental, intentional design constraints and not defects, and you agree that DocWallet Labs bears no liability for data loss resulting from a lost or forgotten passphrase.
7. Subscription & Billing
DocWallet is offered on a free tier and on paid subscription plans (together, "Plans"). Paid Plans are billed on an annual basis and renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled before the renewal date. Prices are denominated in your local currency where available and are listed on the Pricing page at the time of purchase. Prices may be updated from time to time; we will notify you of any change before it takes effect on your account.
Cancellation. You may cancel your subscription at any time through the app or your platform's subscription management settings (App Store or Google Play). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you retain access to paid features until that date. We do not prorate partial-period cancellations.
Refunds. All fees are non-refundable except where required by applicable law (including EU/UK consumer protection regulations and Apple App Store / Google Play refund policies). If you believe a charge was made in error, contact us atsupport@docwalletlabs.com within 14 days of the charge.
Free tier limitations. The free tier may include storage caps, feature restrictions, or other limitations, which are described on the Pricing page and subject to change with notice.
8. Intellectual Property
The DocWallet application, website, brand assets, and all associated technology are the exclusive property of DocWallet Labs, Inc. or its licensors. All rights not expressly granted herein are reserved. "DocWallet" and the DocWallet logo are trademarks of DocWallet Labs, Inc. You may not use our trademarks, service marks, or trade dress without our prior written consent. Subject to your compliance with these Terms, DocWallet Labs grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the app on devices you own or control, solely for your personal, non-commercial purposes.
9. User Content & Data
You retain full ownership of all documents, images, and other content you store in DocWallet ("User Content"). By using the Service, you grant DocWallet Labs a limited, worldwide, royalty-free license to process, store, and transmit your User Content solely to the extent necessary to provide and maintain the Service — for example, to sync encrypted ciphertext across your devices. This license does not permit us to decrypt, read, analyze, or share your User Content with third parties for any other purpose. Because your content is encrypted end-to-end, DocWallet Labs has no practical ability to access the underlying plaintext, and we do not attempt to do so. You represent that you have all necessary rights to upload and store the content you add to DocWallet.
10. Sharing Features
DocWallet provides two types of sharing:
- Family sharing grants another registered DocWallet user access to view all documents in your vault for a specified period. Access begins immediately upon grant and expires automatically.
- Single-document sharing generates a limited-access link or QR code for an individual document, which can be revoked at any time.
You are solely responsible for deciding with whom you share access and for any consequences of doing so. DocWallet Labs does not monitor shared content and is not liable for any unauthorized use of documents after you have shared access. You should revoke access promptly when it is no longer needed. Sharing access with a person who uses it for unlawful purposes does not transfer liability to DocWallet Labs.
11. Service Availability & Limitations
DocWallet Labs will use commercially reasonable efforts to keep the Service available, but we do not guarantee any specific uptime level, particularly during pre-launch, beta, or early access periods. The Service may be interrupted for maintenance, security updates, or circumstances beyond our control (including outages of third-party infrastructure providers). We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time with reasonable notice where practicable. DocWallet Labs will not be liable for any interruption or discontinuation of the Service except to the extent expressly required by applicable law.
12. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, DOCWALLET LABS DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. DOCWALLET LABS DOES NOT WARRANT THAT (A) THE SERVICE WILL MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS; (B) THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, TIMELY, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE; (C) ANY DATA STORED IN THE SERVICE WILL NOT BE LOST; OR (D) ANY DEFECTS IN THE SERVICE WILL BE CORRECTED. YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE IS ENTIRELY AT YOUR OWN RISK. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OF CERTAIN WARRANTIES, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE EXCLUSIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
13. Limitation of Liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL DOCWALLET LABS, ITS DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, SUPPLIERS, OR LICENSORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, PUNITIVE, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF GOODWILL, OR THE COST OF SUBSTITUTE SERVICES, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. IN NO EVENT WILL DOCWALLET LABS' AGGREGATE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE TOTAL AMOUNT YOU PAID TO DOCWALLET LABS IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED US DOLLARS (USD $100). SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE LIMITATION OF LIABILITY FOR CONSEQUENTIAL OR INCIDENTAL DAMAGES, SO THE ABOVE LIMITATION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU IN FULL.
14. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless DocWallet Labs, Inc. and its officers, directors, employees, contractors, agents, licensors, and suppliers from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, judgments, awards, losses, costs, expenses, or fees (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or relating to (a) your violation of these Terms; (b) your User Content; (c) your use of the Service in a manner not authorized by these Terms; or (d) your violation of any applicable law or the rights of any third party.
15. Governing Law
These Terms and any dispute arising out of or related to them or the Service will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, United States of America, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. You and DocWallet Labs agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Delaware for resolution of any such disputes, and you waive any objection to venue in those courts. If you are located in the European Union, nothing in these Terms limits your rights under applicable EU consumer protection laws.
16. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email (to the address on your account) or by a prominent notice in the app at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of updated Terms constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the Service before the effective date. The most current version of these Terms is always available at docwalletlabs.com/terms.
